My house has a front garden and a back garden.
The front garden has a grass lawn with borders all round it. There is also another border which goes along the front of the house next to the path. The house, and so the front garden, faces south-west so gets a good lot of sun as the day goes on, but it also gets pretty whipped by the wind as it whistles along the street.
The back garden has a dividing wall on one side, a privet hedge on two sides and the house forms the fourth side. It is very much a work in progress but at the moment it has a lawn with borders around it. There is a small outhouse, which used to be the wash house, in the back corner of the garden and beside this is another patch of ground which has some shrubs in it along with a raised bed my dad put together for me last summer. The back garden faces north-east, so gets most of its light in the morning during the winter, during the summer, it manages a lot more light for most of the day.
